Weather in the Northeast continues to disrupt operations at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and throughout the region.
Additional cancellations are expected for Monday, Sept. 28, but Delta expects fewer impacts than Sunday thanks to mitigation efforts across the operation. Teams will continue to monitor conditions closely and make adjustments as needed while working to restore normal operations as safely and quickly as possible.
Delta has extended its Northeast Weather Flexibility travel waiver, allowing eligible customers to adjust their travel plans without a fee. The BOS Weather Flexibility travel waiver also remains available to eligible customers. Customers with impacted travel plans will receive direct communications from Delta with information about their options.
Additional guidance for customers includes:
- Before coming to the airport, we encourage customers to verify their flight status via the Delta app or on Delta.com.
- Use the app’s self-service standby feature to view and join available standby lists, providing customers with more flexibility to get on an earlier flight where space is available (feature limited to U.S. domestic travel only, for customers on the last leg of their trip).
- Customers traveling on a U.S. domestic itinerary who experience a flight delay of three hours or more and choose not to fly – either on the original delayed flight or on a rebooked itinerary – are entitled to receive a full refund for the unflown portion of their ticket (including any ancillary fees paid or checked baggage charges). The same refund eligibility applies if a customer experiences a flight delay of six hours or more on an international itinerary and chooses not to fly.

A powerful Nor’easter is bringing strong winds and heavy rain across parts of the Northeast this weekend, including at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). As a result of these conditions, a significant number of cancellations are expected for BOS on Sunday, Sept. 27. Delta automatically rebooks customers to the next best itinerary, and customers can make further changes via the Delta app and Delta.com.
Customers with impacted travel plans will receive direct communications from Delta with information about their options. Delta has issued travel waivers that allow eligible customers to change their flights without a fee. Customers are encouraged to proactively adjust their travel plans and can review waiver details here:
Weather in the region has constrained fuel deliveries into BOS. Delta is taking steps to help minimize impacts to customers, including operating in-bound aircraft to Boston with additional fuel allocated for its next scheduled flight and transporting additional fuel via tanker trucks to supplement fuel reserves where feasible.
Delta remains in close contact with Massport and other aviation stakeholders at BOS and will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as needed.
