On the Ground

Meanwhile, it was just 13 months ago that Delta broke ground on our latest expansion project at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, alongside our partners at the Port Authority. The Concourse B expansion project is expected to be completed by early fall 2023 and will feature 28 gates that can accommodate various aircraft types as well as an expanded security checkpoint and baggage claim areas. Delta Sky Club customers can look forward to a nearly 14,000-square-foot location opening on T4’s Concourse A this summer, with planned seating for over 200 guests.
When it comes to in-flight connectivity, our goal has long been to deliver an experience at 30,000 feet that is similar to what customers would find at home. As of February 1, Delta will offer free Wi-Fi on more than 500 aircraft serving Delta’s most popular routes, with full availability across Delta’s global fleet planned by the end of 2024 in partnership with T-Mobile. Fast, reliable and free Wi-Fi will be available from the time the boarding door closes to the moment the plane lands, allowing customers to connect and enjoy their favorite content during travel.
The future of travel is one where your digital and physical experiences come together seamlessly. Customers will also be able to get more out of existing technologies like facial matching by breezing through baggage drop, security and boarding without the hassle of pulling out their ID or boarding pass. Experiencing Delta Sync is easy – customers simply join SkyMiles for free to create a profile and book travel.
Delta is consistently investing in our fleet to elevate the in-flight customer experience while improving fuel efficiency. In 2022, Delta announced we will be adding 100 state-of-the art Boeing 737 Max to our fleet, with the option for 30 more. Delta has ordered the largest model in the MAX family, the 737-10, which will be powered by the next-generation LEAP-1B engine. Delta will begin taking delivery of the 737-10 in 2025. The aircraft will be 20%-30% more fuel efficient than the retiring Delta planes it will replace, making the agreement an important step in Delta’s journey toward a more sustainable future for aviation. Final assembly of the plane will take place at Boeing’s facility in Renton, Wash., near Delta’s international hub at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Meanwhile, Delta has purchase commitments for a total of 155 A321neos and is scheduled to take delivery of these aircraft through 2027, many from the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama. The A321neo contains an elevated customer experience throughout, including an industry leading domestic First Class seat. The introduction of the fuel-efficient A321neo to our fleet is also an important commitment on Delta’s Flight to Net Zero and to decarbonize aviation.
