Delta issued the below statement following the reopening of the Department of Homeland Security. 

“We are relieved and grateful that Congress has finally passed a bill to re-open the Department of Homeland Security after a 75-day shutdown. Unfortunately, this unprecedented shutdown which forced TSA officers to go without a paycheck for weeks, has led to over 1,000 screening officers leaving DHS to seek other employment. While today’s news is welcome, we know this funding only lasts through the end of September. Therefore, it is imperative that Congress immediately pass bi-partisan legislation that would ensure federal aviation workers including air traffic controllers and TSA officers are paid in the event of future shutdowns. Jeopardizing our vital aviation system by asking our essential government employees to work without pay simply should never happen again. We must demonstrate that we value the men and women who perform critical aviation safety and security duties — whether the government is open or not.”
